  • You take part at your own risk and must be fit enough to walk, jog or run 10KM.
  • Children under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission. Children under 12 must stay with an adult.
  • We may take photos at the event. We only use your details to run the event.

1Who we are

The Kikwala Festival 10KM ("the event") is organised by Kikwala Foundation, Registered NGO 00NGO/R/10208 ("we", "us"), with our humanitarian partner Babuu Wa Kitaa Foundation. By booking a place you ("the participant", or the person booking for others) accept these terms for yourself and for everyone in your booking.

2Booking and payment

  • The registration fee is TZS 35,000 per participant and includes the official event kit with a jersey.
  • A booking is confirmed only when the full amount is received. Unpaid bookings do not hold a place or a kit.
  • Payments are processed by our payment provider, Snippe, through mobile money. We do not see or store your mobile money PIN.
  • Your booking number and ticket QR code are your proof of registration. Keep them private: anyone holding them can check in with your place.
  • Please give correct details. We may cancel bookings with false details, duplicate bookings or bookings made in bad faith.

3Refunds, transfers and changes

  • Registration fees are non-refundable. They pay for kits ordered in advance and fund the event's causes.
  • Gifts for elders are donations and are non-refundable.
  • Transfers: if you cannot take part, you may give your place to another person. Message the festival team on WhatsApp with your booking number and the new participant's name, age and phone number by 5 December 2026.
  • Jersey sizes can be changed until 5 December 2026, as long as the size is still available.
  • Mistaken payments: if you paid twice, or paid more than your booking total, contact us within 14 days of the event and we will refund the extra amount.

4If the event changes

  • The route, start and finish locations and timetable are subject to approval by the authorities and may change. We will tell registered participants about important changes by SMS, WhatsApp or email.
  • If the event is postponed, your booking remains valid for the new date.
  • If we cancel the event for reasons within our control, we will refund registration fees.
  • If the event is cancelled or cut short for reasons beyond our control (for example severe weather, a security risk, a public health measure or an instruction from the authorities), fees will not be refunded, as they will already have been spent on the event and its causes. Kits will still be given to participants.

5Health and safety

  • You take part at your own risk. By booking, you confirm that everyone in your booking is in good health and fit enough to walk, jog or run 10KM.
  • If you have a heart condition, are pregnant, or have any other medical condition, ask a doctor before taking part.
  • Follow the instructions of marshals, police, medical staff and event officials at all times. Roads may still have traffic: stay within the marked route.
  • We may stop anyone from starting or continuing if they appear unwell or are a danger to themselves or others.
  • First aid will be available at the event. You agree to receive emergency medical help if you need it.
  • For safety, bicycles, skates, scooters and animals are not allowed on the route, except assistance animals.

6Children

  • Participants under 18 may take part only with the permission of a parent or guardian. The person who books for them accepts these terms on their behalf.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the whole event.

7Event day and kits

  • Kits are collected at check-in in the Sea Cliff area from 5:15 AM. Bring your ticket QR code or booking number.
  • Kits not collected on event day will not be posted or delivered, and no refund is given.
  • Please look after your belongings. We cannot take responsibility for items that are lost or stolen.

8Our responsibility

As far as the law allows, Kikwala Foundation, Babuu Wa Kitaa Foundation, our sponsors, volunteers and partners are not responsible for injury, illness, loss or damage that happens during or because of the event, unless it is caused by our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Tanzanian law that cannot be limited.

9Behaviour

Treat other participants, volunteers and the public with respect. We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who behaves in a way that is unsafe, abusive or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No refund is given in that case.

10Photos and video

The event will be photographed and filmed. Pictures may show participants, and we and our sponsors may use them to report on the event and promote future events. If you do not want to appear, tell a team member on the day or message us on WhatsApp, and we will do our best to leave you out.

11Your personal information

  • We collect the details in your booking: name, phone number, age, email (if given), jersey sizes, payment details and booking status.
  • We use them only to manage your registration, take your payment, send your ticket and event updates, check you in, and keep the event safe.
  • We share them only with our payment provider (Snippe, to process your payment) and when the law requires it. We do not sell your details.
  • We keep booking records for up to 12 months after the event for accounting and safety, then delete them.
  • Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, you can ask to see, correct or delete your details. Message us on WhatsApp.
